Greetings all,
The cherry blossoms are beginning to show here at JPII Pastoral Centre and so a few notes about Jubilee activities and details as we move into warmer weather and a new season...
Many parishes are planning Jubilee pilgrimages to one of the three Archdiocesan shrines. Wonderful! If your group is larger the 20 people, please reach out and book your time with St. Jude’s, St. Anthony of Padua, Agassiz or Holy Rosary Cathedral ahead of time. Do not announce the time to your people until you have confirmed it with the shrine. It is going to be very busy as the weather improves and the shrine staff want to make sure your group has a prayerful experience when you visit.
For the Cathedral, there will be a registration form coming out later this week, and I will send you the link for that. If you need to book before the registration link is ready, please email Fr. Santa Maria at psantamaria@rcav.org .
For St. Jude’s bookings, please visit their registration page at: Registration Form - St. Jude
For St. Anthony’s, please email Beccie Bokenfohr at st.anthonys@shaw.ca
You may also be interested in making your parishioners aware of the Vocation’s Office Urban Pilgrimage on March 30th, a walking event from Saint Jude’s to the Cathedral. There is more information here: Participate - Archdiocese of Vancouver
Please also to keep checking the Archdiocesan site, https://rcav.org/jubilee-2025 for information on the Jubilee, the indulgence and the many events that are being planned. As well, the CCCB site, The Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025 - Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops has added many new resources for adults and children on the Jubilee themes. Please pass these resources on to your formation ministry leaders.
Finally HOLY DOORS! All three of the shrines are asked, almost daily, “Where are the Holy Doors?”. The answer is “in Rome”. Here is the explanation:
Clarification on Holy Doors during the Jubilee of Hope
This Jubilee Year, Pope Francis has designated Holy Doors exclusively at the four major papal basilicas in Rome to highlight the unity of the universal Church and to invite Catholics worldwide to make the traditional pilgrimage to Rome. There are no Holy Doors in Vancouver, though Catholics can still obtain the Jubilee Indulgence by following the instructions outlined on the website here: Clarification on Holy Doors during the Jubilee of Hope - Archdiocese of Vancouver.
Thank you for all you are doing to support the celebration of the Jubilee in our Archdiocese.
Wishing you a Holy season of Lent.
